Yale Section of Geriatric Medicine

The mission of the Section of Geriatrics in the Department of Internal Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine is to improve the function, independence, and quality of life of older persons. The Section trains resident physicians, medical students, fellows, and attending physicians in the most effective care of the elderly, promotes innovative multidisciplinary research programs, trains junior investigators to become future leaders, and offers our patients the highest level of clinical care.

Yale Geriatics Patient Care is run through a number of programs and centers at both Yale New Haven Hospital and the VA Connecticut Medical Center in West Haven. In addition to these, the Yale Geriatrics Faculty have developed a number of interventions that have resulted in a major improvement in the care of older persons.


Fellowship Programs»

There are three tracks available to the physician interested in futhering their career in geriatric Medicine. All three tracks must include one year of clinical geriatric medicine. If you have completed a year of a fellowship in geriatric medicine at your current institution, but are not privy to expanded training, you may apply to either our geriatric educator track or the geriatric research track.
